  4. General Stuff:
  5. --------------
  6.     ClipSave is handy little utility to save the clipboard across boots 
  7. (technical jargon for saves the clipboard when you restart).  When you 
  8. Shut Down or Restart, ClipSave saves your Clipboard in the file ClipSave 
  9. Data in the preferences folder in your System Folder.  Then, when you run 
  10. the application again, it copies whatever is in the file into your 
  11. Clipboard.
  12.  
  13. Instructions:
  14. -------------
  15.     ClipSave is an application.  When run, it looks for its prefs file, 
  16. copies whatever was saved into the Clipboard, installs its save procedure 
  17. into the ShutDown Queue, and quits.  This means that ClipSave can only 
  18. save the Clipboard if you run the application.  If you want the Clipboard 
  19. saved every time you Restart or Shut Down, and restored every time you 
  20. start up, just put ClipSave in the folder called "Startup Items" inside 
  21. the System Folder (System 7), or use "Set Startup" to make ClipSave the 
  22. startup application (System 6).

  24. Other Uses:
  25. -----------
  26.     ClipSave has another handy feature.  You can have the same thing put in 
  27. the Clipboard every time you start up.  To use this feature, do the 
  28. following:
  29. •   Run ClipSave
  30. •   Copy what you want into the Clipboard
  31. •   Copy ClipRecover into the Startup Items folder or Set Startup to 
  32.      ClipRecover, depending on what system you're using
  33. •   Restart
  34.      Now, the same thing will be put into the Clipboard every time you start up.

  36. Errors:
  37. -------
  38.     In both ClipSave and ClipRecover, beeping indicates an error.  If you 
  39. hear two beeps when you run either application, that means that the 
  40. application failed to find a saved copy of the Clipboard.  If ClipRecover 
  41. signaled the error, run ClipSave and Restart.  Ignore ClipSave's beeping.  
  42. If ClipSave signaled the error, just Restart and a copy of the Clipboard 
  43. will be saved.
  44.     If there were three beeps, an internal application error occurred.  The 
  45. application could be damaged or out of memory.

  62. reproduce the bug is kinda crucial.  I already have some ideas for future

  71.     ClipSave is my first semi-major project in C.  It was written in THINK C 
  72. 5.0.4 with much help from THINK Reference.  I just had a need to save the 
  73. clipboard over boots one day, and I decided to write a program to do it, 
  74. because, to my knowledge, there wasn't one already in existence.

  81.                      you Restart or Shutdown

  88. The author, Russ Nelson, is not responsible for anything done by this 
  89. program.  Use at your own risk.  It has been tested somewhat, but no 
  90. guarantees are made.

  92. The ClipSave package is free, but it's not public domain. This means that 
  93. you can give it to anyone you want, but you can't charge money for it 
  94. without prior written authorization from the author, and the distribution 
  95. must include the entire package.

  97. The ClipSave package is WhateverWare.  If you like it, send me a postcard 
  98. or some money, or donate to your favorite charity, or bake some brownies, 
  99. or call your grandmother, or whatever.  Hence the name.

  107. NOTE: The phone # will be valid only until August '93, when <GOD WILLING>
